Zugspitze

We will enjoy a trip on the Zugspitze railroad which was built in 1930, traveling near by the Eibsee lake which was formed by the collapse of a mountain in the Glacial Epoch. On the top of the mountains, quaffing a hot drink on a terrace overlooking a glacier, we will have a delightful view of four countries.

Among the most famous of Ludwig II’s castles is Schloss Linderhof, built between 1874 and 1878, a luxurious Rococo residence in Louis XIV style. It is the smallest of the three castle, but the only one that Ludwig II saw it’s completion.

Although much smaller than the Versailles, nobody can deny that the French castle was the godfather to Linderhof. The symbol of the sun can be found in every decoration of the rooms, which reminds of the French Absolutism in the eyes of Ludwig II.

We will leave the Linderhof castle heading  towards the highest peak in Germany, 9720 feet above sea level. The Werdenfelser-land  around Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the most famous tourist region in Upper Bavaria, located at the foot of the Zugspitze.  The area gets it’s name from a medieval castle, whose nickname was land of gold, during the period of it’s economic boom, between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries.
